On August 9, 2008, the Faith and Resistance retreat held a vigil at the White House. We heard the stories of two Hibakasha, and then held signs and sat in sackcloth and ashes in repentance for the US nuclear use and continued threat of nuclear weapons.

During the Atlantic Life Community Faith and Resistance Retreat, 19 activists went on a tour of the USS Sterett. The Sterett, a 1.3 billion dollar guided missile destroyer, was in Baltimore for commissioning on Aug. 9th.

On August 6, 2008 we went to the Pentagon remembering that 63 years ago, the US dropped an atomic bomb on the city and people of Hiroshima. Then, and now, people have tried to justify the murder of hundreds of thousands of people.

We go to the Department of Energy building, in Washington DC, The DoE is the US agency that oversees the nuclear weapons complex. The DoE is in charge of the research and building of nuclear weapons, and in fact OWNS all the nuclear weapons of the US.
